Sarah Jane Sewell is in the news today once again for hypocrisy over her political beliefs. Sarah Jane has publicly declared that she doesn't support the fact that lecturers are striking today saying on Facebook 'I'm paying the equiv of £50/lecture and I am losing that money tomorrow for my lecturer to go on strike. Hmmmm'. Sarah Jane a short time after that also gave a greater explanation on her views of the strike.
However this was not the position Sarah Jane took in her role as Royal Holloway SU's Ethics and Environmental officer. In a vote in the Students Union, which voted in the end to support strikes, Sarah Jane abstained. Her actions have brought much criticism from CFers who believe this is hypocrisy.
One of the many CFers who have contacted me over this has said "She has let down a lot of students. As a national youth officer, She has also let down the Conservative Party. But the main question is why does she lie about it on Facebook and say that she opposes the strikes. If she wants to support the strikes, she has every right to. We all know she's a closet Leftie anyway. Just don't pretend to care about students welfare."

Double Hypocrisy? |
Indeed a little digging by #ThingsElliottSays shows that the hypocrisy doesn't stop there as for part of Sarah Jane's re-election campaign involved her claiming that people shouldn't just trust what she says but trust what she does/has done. She even shared a Facebook photo on this topic. I think many people will agree with her when she says 'don't trust words, trust actions'.
Also as a side note, whilst we are talking about Sarah Jane,
like some opposition Cllrs in Wisbech, she has blocked me on Facebook and Twitter. A bit petty if you ask me and source of more embarrassment for her.
Update
Sarah Jane has replied to my article.
However people who were present at the meeting have cast doubts onto Sarah Jane Sewell's account.
CF is pathetic and a disgrace to the Conservatives. Be done with it already.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't we judge the actions of the branch that she was lauded for so loudly in her election (and recently too in accepting the Thatcher award)? Or is there not much point in judging the actions of group that hasn't met for years? Or one which at the last few meetings had very few people turn up? These of course are only things I've heard from people involved with CF and on blogs. Is there are truth to such claims? Have we ever heard from anyone in her branch to defend her against these attack or in previous elections?
ReplyDeleteTechnically speaking I've been told a CF branch can be of just one person. However, as someone who was very close to it's set up I can say that nothing has happened there since 2011.
ReplyDeleteNot much else to it really, I was in Manchester having surgery while she was banging my boyfriend! She even had the audacity to add me on Facebook and start messaging me as if she was my new best friend. Then when I found out what they had been doing and called her out on it she ACTUALLY said 'I don't know why I ever bothered being nice to you'! As if that is being nice to somebody?! I think she is a little bit deranged.
ReplyDeleteDisgrace to the Conservatives? It's just like the rest of the party, pathetic.
ReplyDeleteErr, are we really vilifying someone because they ABSTAINED? Seriously! It's really easy to zone out in a meeting like that and miss the vote all together. Hell, I've done it once or twice when on Student Council (almost forgot to count the votes when I was chair once as well).
ReplyDeleteWe're vilifying someone for abstaining and then crying about how much she's against it blah blah blah.
ReplyDeleteBig deal about nothing if you ask me. Who really cares?

ReplyDeleteAs a member of said facebook thread I would have liked to remain anonymous. I think you should remove the names/photos of concerned parties.
ReplyDeleteThe comments were made public on social media but if you wish for your name to be removed email me and I shall do so.
ReplyDeleteSJ is just stupid. Union strikes are probably one of the most important things you vote on as part of SU elections, nosebleed or not, she should have voted. If this girl gets elected CF chair I will leave, as will many others.
ReplyDeleteThis is incedibly sad and pathetic from all concerned. That is all.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sad and pathetic little creature this Elliot Johnson is, and what a thoroughly bad name he gives Conservative Future. Of all of the issues of great import in this world, a priority in the world of this Elliot oik is a strike at a university he doesn't attend, the business of a meeting at that university SU which he didn't attend, and a desperate smear campaign against a fellow party member which would shame Unite.
ReplyDeletePeople who are nasty, venal, self important and have so much time on their hands as to publish an attack blog on others in their own party will find their Facebook friends list shrinking, since surprisingly few people genuinely give a toss for their acidic opinions.
Personally, I will in future prioritise taking political observations from a gerbil before revisiting this particular blog. To move from one small and insignificant little rodent to another...
Not a fan of exposing hypocrisy or examining the politics of what people believe in, I take it. This is news that people want to read about. And I say news rather than gossip or criticising people when it isn't political. If you wish to have a political debate on the subject that is fine but a personal attack on me is not the way to go about it. I'm afraid your the only one smearing, I'm investigating the facts.
ReplyDeleteIf your having surgery you can't give your man all the cankle pleasure he needs. That's where I step in. If you don't use it you lose it sista.
ReplyDeleteElliott the Irony. You are the one launching personal vindictive attacks, no one else.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, not even the Sun has crap writing like this in it.
