Enfield Road Trip


Yes, it is back. Road Trip 2015 made it three massive successes in a row with a mass campaign day in Enfield for Nick de Bois MP. Thanks to Mark Clarke and the team for another smashing day out. I saw Mahyar, the awesome AJ, Charlotte Kude (who is currently looking after Mahyar in his campaign to become the councillor for Lee Greem) and a whole host of others. It was certainly worth coming down from Nottingham, even though it took me several hours to get home and I had to leave the party early.

It took me a good few hours to travel from Nottingham down to Enfield in the morning. Some people seemed to have a more eventful morning though.



What surprises me most about that tweet is Stephen Canning somehow was not involved. But anyway,I was taken from Oakwood tube station with a few others by Nick de Bois to leaflet one of the best areas in Enfield for the Conservatives. At the moment, as all my Conservative friends in London keeps reminding me with notices of elections advertising their candidacy, it is the London Borough elections fairly soon. Enfield is obviously no exception. With Labour only having a majority of 9, a lower turnout than in 2010 which pushed the Labour vote up (for obvious reasons), and very few UKIP candidates, there is a good chance the Conservatives could re-take Enfield council.

After that we had lunch, a good mix of biscuits and beer essentially, where I got to chat with the peeps I know from across the country. In total it was worked out that 130 activists had come to help in Enfield. Which was much more than Labour had out on that day



During this time Grant Shapps turned up to inspire us all with a great speech about what was coming up in the next few days, weeks and months. 





Then there was a competition of who could get the best #ShappsSelfie here are most of the entrants.





















We then went out for the big group photo someone even put a making of video on Vine. 





We the went out for a bit more leafleting or in my case canvassing of the people of Enfield. 






But it was then on to the bar where we tried to drink dry the Jolly Butcher in Enfield. They had a very good selection of beers and I caught up with George Hopkinson who has also produced another decent article about the Road Trip on Conservative Student, which has been quite for a while. George says it will be starting up again soon so you may see me taking up my virtual pen and writing for the blog.

After this we then went for a Curry. 




However there was one problem. There was so many of us the curry house quickly ran out of seats for us to sit down in. After a Kissinger style negotiation between the restaurant owners on one side and Mark Clarke and Andre on the other, two sittings were organised to feed the 5,000. As Nick de Bois said in his speech after dinner, or before dinner in my case, "Mark told me there would be 100 activists with 70 for curry afterwards. I told him not to exaggerate and that he would be wrong. I was right. 130 activists turned up and over 100 came for a free curry."

After dinner I had to go off home, but it seems everyone was still able to have a fantastic party afterwards.

We really did some excellent work yesterday. Nick has a 1692 majority in Enfield North, obviously we need to hold this seat for a majority government. I hope though that come the General Election there will be a big swing to the Conservatives here.


I must thank again all the Road Trip Team for the fun day with the free drinks, free curry and all the satisfaction of helping to beat Labour. The question on everyone's lips though is, "where's next?".

TPA in Lee Green


The TPA were out yesterday campaigning against the ever wasteful Lewisham Council, which is currently run by the Labour Party. What a surprise.*

For a long time Lewisham Council has been increasing taxes whilst cutting services, not very good for the residents. The TPA team of Sonia Khan and Mark Malik went to the high street of Lee Green to inform the residents of this waste. They were joined by Mahyar Tousi, CF big wig and CCHQ Pizza thief, as well as other activists. Those who were there have told #ThingsElliottSays that the day went really well with lots of people surprised by the amount of waste there is in Lewisham. The Lee Greeners had their eyes opened for sure.



Mahyar has exclusively told #ThingsElliottSays "we received a lot of positive feedback, both from those local residents who were aware of local issues and those who didn't' know that Lewisham council are constantly increasing council tax whilst cutting local services. Over the next few months, as a local activist, I will continue my research and campaign to find out exactly what they do with our money and how we can encourage them to cut waste."

However, there are those who were not happy with the TPA's campaign. The local Labour councillor of Lee Green came over and took a leaflet from the stand. Obviously not happy with the TPA exposing his councils waste he got together a gang of people, including some Lib Dems, and tried to cover up their waste by telling people that the TPA was spouting a load of nonsense. Charming.



Sonia from the Tax Payers Alliance is encouraging as many people as possible to join the TPA action team to help fight waste in local and national government. The TPA hope to do more campaign days across the country to highlight misuse of tax payers money. The 'War on Waste' starts now.


*This is not to say that all council waste is created by Labour but that all Labour run councils waste money. I have yet to see an example where this is not true.

Harlow Road Trip - The Full Story


And now for the story people across the land have been waiting for. Yes here is the full lowdown of the #Harlow #RoadTrip2015.

Mahyar is soon becoming CFs glamour model.

The Harlow Road Trip has to be up there with some of the best campaigning days I have ever done. There is not much better than being with friends whilst leafleting with a free curry and wine later. I spent half the time larking around with Top Tory Mahyar, who is becoming more and more like CF's glamour model every single day.

But to be fair I didn't need always the free stuff or my CF friends from across the country. I am always happy to help out Rob Halfon MP who is leading a revolution in the Conservative Party. He is there on the front lines of politics waving a huge blue flag saying 'up the workers'. The Conservative Party is becoming the Workers Party, a change which is highly important so it really starts to properly represent the people of the country. I think we owe a lot of this to Rob and we must thank him greatly for that. And now with the backing of the 'Halfon hundreds' (as the local media have dubbed us) and organisations like YBF, named the 'SAS of Conservativism' by Rob, we can make the change to become the Workers Party.


The day started early for everyone. I got up just after six o'clock to get the train to Harlow. Most others started out at Liverpool Street Station.




Almost 100 people came to help Rob. For most CFers it was a choice between Spring Forum or the Harlow Road Trip. Most choose the Road Trip, a very wise move. There was very good representation from across the country too. Someone came from Edinburgh, I came from Nottingham, Alexandra from Manchester but obviously there were loads from London.

In the morning we were all sent out to deliver the Harlow sun newspaper across all of the town. As I have said we got a lot done. There are plenty of snaps of the morning deliveries. One thing I must say is that Harlow is the easiest place I have ever delivered in. The letterboxes are so lightweight and do not in general have thick brushes. Thanks for making our lives easier people of Harlow.

Of course there were great stories from Twitter too.



We then stopped for Lunch where Vicky Ford MEP, who had been campaigning all day, told us she was "proud to be Rob Halfon's page three girl in the Harlow Sun". She also again reiterated the point that the Conservatives need to work hard for the European elections. Our relationship with Europe at the moment is at a pivotal point. With the referendum coming up soon we need competent people stopping Europe taking more powers away from the UK. I'd hate to see between now and 2017 feckless UKIP MEPs, who just want to join the gravy train of expenses, ruin this country  by not doing anything about Brussels regulation. Who will fight clause by clause for Britain in every new piece of legislation? Only the Conservatives with decent MEPs like Vicky do this.



We then went out for the Big Photo. I hope Labour are getting nervous by the amount of volunteers. With only a little planning the Conservatives can muster hundreds of activists to go to any part of the country. All we need as an incentive is a good MP and a little bit of fun.


We then went out for another afternoon session of canvassing. I went out with the Only Way Is Canning, Lord Mocroft, Alexandra and Top Tory Tousi to see how Rob is received on the door in Harlow. We were surprised by the sheer amount of Conservatives in Harlow. We found that most people are solid Tories, it was a very good session. One person even said they were thankful Rob had spent time in taking them to Parliament. Rob clearly puts in the effort as a constituency MP.

We then hit the bar. Thanks goes to Mark Clarke for the free drinks.



Rob also organised a pretty decent curry for us in a local restaurant. At the end of the meal Rob gave a thank you speech in which he praised our hard work massively. He also mentioned Emily Burditt, who I proudly say is a NUCA Alumni and now Rob's fantastic office worker. Emily as a reward for all her hard work was recently awarded the parliamentarian assistant of the year award by the Speaker. Very well done to her.


Rob Halfon was also presented with the special YBF Golden Dolphin badge. There have only been ten made of these badges and Rob was the first recipient. I'm not surprised by this because Rob is one of the soundest MPs in living memory.

We then went clubbing and Rob proved himself to be sound in other ways too.


I really enjoyed the Harlow Road Trip. I will certainly be going to the next one whether it's in St Ives of Aberdeen. Thanks must go to all those who organised this day from Rob to Mark or the Harlow team to Rob's staff. Well done to you all.

Mahyar Tousi Launches Election Campaign


Today comes the obvious news that CF has been a long time waiting for; Mahyar Tousi has started campaigning to be elected councillor for Lee Green ward on Lewisham council. Yesterday Mahyar with a large number of helpers, including James Cleverly AM, went out on the streets of Lee Green to convince them to vote Tousi and Conservative for this years May elections. 


Charlotte Kude, Mayhar's campaign manager who he describes as 'Brilliant but 'bossy'', has said to #ThingsElliottSays "A great turnout and some very good responses on the doorstep have left both me and Mahyar very optimistic about the future of his campaign."


James Cleverly said yesterday whilst camapigning "there had been great feedback on the door step against the incompetent Labour council, and that they said they need a Cllr who actually does something. The residents also said Mahyar is more likely to get more personal votes and that may decide the results."


The television superstar Stephen Canning said "It was brilliant to be able to go out campaigning for yet another CF'er standing for council. It's a demonstration of how many talented individuals there are now in CF that so many are being selected to stand for their local councils."


Mahyar himself said that his first day campaigning got a great response form the people of Lee Green on Facebook. Mahyar will also soon be announcing the completion of a business forum to get small local business to work together. Mahyar also is encouraging CFers from up and down the country to come join him on the streets of Lee Green by tempting them with a campaign launch party and other events later this year. Ideas for future events include a possible barbecue and who knows maybe Boris Johnson might turn up?


Lee Green is a very winnable seat for the Conservatives in the 2014 May elections. Lewisham council is held by an incompetent Labour Party, who would have guessed that those two words would be next to each other, but the Lee Green seat is held by the Libe Dems. In 2006, the last time this seat was up for election without a General Election on the same day, the Conservatives were short of just 80 votes from taking Lee Green. Mahyar has a very good chance of becoming Cllr Tousi so please support him.


People of Lee Green vote for Mahyar Tousi in the May elections. He is the only candidate who is 'standing up for Lee Green'.

Breaking News: Chackers to Stand as CF Chair

Sarah Jane and #TeamShadow have now got competition from Laurence Chacksfield (Chackers) for the race to be CF Chair. Chackers works as a Tory researcher in Parliament and studied at Queen Mary in London. This is what has been spied on Facebook.



Victoria Adams has said "I feel like something astoundly special this evening. We have been given the announcement that a Mr Laurence Patricia Chackfiled is going to be running for Conservative Future Chair. This news is particularly heart warming for me as its so close to home, being a former Queen Mary Conservative Chair and helped showed me the ropes of campus Tory life. I hope we can all join together to support this ultrasound candidate in seeing him elected as the true heir to Conservative Future"

The reem Stephen Canning of Towie and Made in Chelsea fame has said "The election is some way off and we have a chairman at the moment who has a lot he still wants to achieve before his term is up. If Laurence is standing then best of luck to an incredibly sound CF'er and YBF alumini!"

However #ThingsEllliottSays has been told that this may be one big colossal joke. Sources close to Chackers say he is out drinking with his friends and hasn't "got bored yet of a joke which wasn't even really that funny at conference". I have also spoken to a source close to his girlfriend who says that "he can get carried away when he's drinking" and that they do not think that his girlfriend would be very pleased if he stood. Clearly there are some practical jokers that wanted to make Sarah Jane and Mahyar sweat.

Update

Reports are now coming in from the pub of the scene of Chackers announcing his CF candidacy. These seem to be more of the serious kind rather than a joke. The Source at the Heart of the Campaign has said exclusively to #ThingsElliottSays Chackers is "upset that unis aren't treated the same as branch members, that cf doesn't do enough to bring new people into the party and that the other candidates are useless. He'll only run if Cooper doesn't." The last part is hard to disagree with.

The first campaign meeting for Chackers' campaign is currently taking place and involves cigars and scotch. Mo Metcalf Fisher is also said to be including Chackers in his next CF polls to see what people think of him. People have also taken to Facebook declaring themselves to be a #ChackerBacker.

Stephen Canning is also seeing the funny side of this whole event.


Update 2


#ThingsElliottSays' suspicion was correct. Chackers is not standing for CF Chair and the whole of last night was a massive joke. Apparently Chackers was sleeping for a large part of the joke. The Chackers Backers must be very upset.
