Nottingham Labour Parking Fail

This picture is from the recent Nottingham Labour Radford Park Autumn Newsletter. The capition states 'Cllrs Liaqat Ali, Mohammed Aslam an Steph Williams posing by a car which has been considerately parked'.

However you will also notice that the car is parked on the pavement which although not illegal is considered as exceptionally bad parking by the Highways Authorities. Rule 244 of the Highway Code states 'You MUST NOT park partially or wholly on the pavement in London, and should not do so elsewhere unless signs permit it. Parking on the pavement can obstruct and seriously inconvenience pedestrians, people in wheelchairs or with visual impairments and people with prams or pushchairs'.

I think the Radford and Park Labour Cllrs will now read the Highway Code before the next elections in 2015.

  1. To be fair, on some narrow streets it would only be possible for cars to park on one side of the carriageway if the pavement weren't used - e.g. on the Lenton Abbey estate, or most of the roads in Wollaton East.

  2. Well none of them are in that ward. My street is probably the narrowest and you can easily park on the road here.
