Ed Miliband - 'Labour Party Lady'

Anger came from Harriet Harperson today after ITV revealed that she was not the top women in the Labour Party. ITV News introduced the leader of the Labour, Ed Miliband, as the 'Labour Party Lady'. In other words the most senior woman in charge of the party.

Ed Miliband also showed his leadership image off to its full potential whilst being interviewed by ITV.

The EU Referendum Bill Returns

Today the EU Referendum Bill returns. The Private Members Bill sponsored by Bob Neill MP, Bromley and Chislehurst, and backed by the whole Conservative Party will for the second time receive its first reading again.

The EU Referendum Bill was first introduced by James Wharton MP, Stockton South, in 2013 to show the Conservatives commitment to holding an In/Out referendum on European Union membership. The Bill will state that a referendum must held before 2017 and, although no parliament can bind its successor, a future Parliament would have to overturn this Bill not to be bound by it.

The EU Referendum Bill has already had a tough ride. The Liberal Democrats and Labour Party refused to support the Bill in the House of Commons chamber but tried to talk out the Bill during its committee stage. This point was passed however after many long nights of Lib Dem and Labour MPs adding pointless amendments which had to be all voted upon and taking for hours about trivial historical information on the 31st of December. Sadly though the Bill did not pass in the House of Lords where the Lib Dems and Labour Party did indeed vote this Bill down. The Wharton Bill was no more.

But now it is back. The House of Lords, under the Parliament Acts, can no longer stop this proposed Bill. The Prime Minster and the Commons can choose to override the House of Lords if it again votes down the EU Referendum Bill. The only place this Bill can now be killed off is in the House of Commons. Is Ed Miliband strong enough to get his MPs to vote against an EU referendum? Unlikely.

Bob Neill has an article in the Daily Express today saying 'This isn’t a Bill that will mean Britain leaves the EU or stays in it. It’s a Bill to end the cancer that has eaten at our democratic life for more than a generation: that of the political elite refusing to let the people decide – after renegotiation – Britain’s future relationship with Europe. We believe it’s such a fundamental decision that the choice should rest with the whole electorate.'

It is only the Conservatives who will #LetBritainDecide by giving you a referendum on Europe and by the end of this Parliamentary session this commitment is likely to be enshrined in statute. You can help the Conservatives and Bob Neill by co-sponsoring the EU Referendum Bill here.

Labour is in a Mess

I have no idea what is going on in the Labour Party at this moment. Red Ed seems to be changing direction every single day. Its not going well for Ed now that wages are rising above inflation and it is likely to stay that way now. Although people still feeling the pinch this is start to ease and the 'cost of living crisis' is starting to end. f course the Conservatives have long term plans to help people up and down the country but I ask again, what are Labours plans?

Red Ed's New Years Message

Red Ed today has come out with his New Year's Message and has focussed on the cost of living. "We're in the biggest cost of living crisis for a generation" says Ed Miliband. Although I think there is some historical inaccuracies if you count the 1970s and early 1980s mass inflation; people are felling the pinch at this moment. It's a good job then that the Conservatives in government has pushed for three key things to make sure people are better off.

On another note Labour hasn't yet said anything on the economy, which has started to do pretty well of late (you may have noticed). Seems odd for a New Years Message not to include the economy's growth when it is important to improve people's lives. I thus went to find out if Labour had an economic plan to solve living costs and found this.

The Weekly Poll Lowdown (with a 2 and 1/2 week delay)

After a fairly long break of 6 days and having consigned weaknesses of 1920s Japanese Democracy and Mercantilism to the history books, #ThingsElliottSays has returned for a weekly (with a 2 and 1/2 week delay) poll lowdown.

Well, with a high turnout of 72, we have pretty accurate figures which show that 60% of you believe that an investigation should be launched into the practices of the Unite Union after the Grangemouth dispute. Just over a third of you however disagree, I'd expect some of these votes are from those who are fully paid up Unite (formerly Labour Party) members.

It was all happening at Grangemouth.

Firstly let's run through what has alleged to have happened. The Unite Grangemouth leader, a chap named Stephen Deans who was involved in the voting rigging at Falkirk, has been using 'leverage tactics' against Ienos the people who run Grangemooth. 'Leverage tactics' from eyewitness reports and photos is not setting up a picket at the factory and giving a friendly wave to all the people going in, nor is it going down to London to shout at central HQ. What it involves is a strong mob turning up at bosses houses, in Hampshire not Scotland, with a giant rat threatening and bullying families and then possibly telling everyone how evil the occupant of the house is whilst distributing wanted posters of him. All of these were tactics legitimised, organised and encouraged by Mr Deans, who Dave described as a 'rogue union official'. He seems a very nice man.

Someone's house is a totally legitimate scene for an industrial dispute according to Stephen Deans.

I am very surprised it has had to come to David Cameron and the police launching investigations into this saga. As a trade union which wants to command the public's respect and wants to look after members jobs, or should want to at least, the Unite Union when it heard of what has happened should have launched an investigation. However Len McCluskey has said there will be no internal investigation and any inquiry is a 'Tory Stunt'.

I don't have Pogonophobia or anything but I really hate Len McCluskey's beard.

Then, if Unite refuses to do something any trade union should do, the onus is on the very linked Labour party to see what sort of people they're dealing with as partners and find out what has been going on. Knowing how Ed Miliband wants an inquiry into absolutely everything, from the price of bananas to energy prices (which he made rise), it's surprising Red Ed hasn't called an investigation into this. Perhaps the fact that Unite now funds 77% of the Labour Party and Labour has announced it will no longer seek to change its role with trade unions is a reason why they're pretty happy with their current trade union standing.

I don't think it is right to intimidate and call it a 'protest'. Nor should you 'protest' at somebody's house and involve their family. In fact this reminds me of the nasty days of Labour and trade unions; perhaps we are returning somewhat to that. I doubt Ed Miliband will change any laws but he seems to be very good at turning a blind eye at all the things wrong with his party.

Two Eds Are Better Than One

Two Ed's are certainly better than one in brining election defeat closer to the Labour Party. I bet Labour Party members are suffering from one hell of an Ed-ache.

Miliband Goes Mad

Welcome to the Opposition Mad House, where logic is tortured till it cries out. This twisted, warped and rather insane logic has yet again been shown by Red (and mad) Ed.

So what has Red Ed done? He has claimed that pay day lenders should be banned from advertising on children's TV channels or in children's TV slots. Why is this Ed? It's because in his own words "I know how influenced they [children] can be by what they see and I don't want pay day lenders taking advantage of the cost of living crisis and targeting children in this country." So in other words Ed thinks Wonga is trying to get children to borrow from them through their advertising campaigns.

Apparently, the old people of Wonga are wanting to lend to people they specifically bar from being leant money.

Is this man having a laugh or what? People under the age of 18 cannot take out pay day loans. Go onto Wonga.com, or any of the other pay day lenders website's, and you'll see that one of the main conditions is a person has to be over the age of 18 to get money. There are no 7 year olds calling up Wonga; or if there are they're being denied loans because the companies will not lend to people that young. This means that whether or not they find the funny old puppets amusing or not is meaningless because they can't borrow money. So why ban them?

Well there are two reasons why Red Ed could have said this. Firstly he has gone logically mad; this is not unsurprising considering the people he has to work with in the Shadow Cabinet and Unite. I'm surprised we didn't notice his madness when he tried to make out the spare room subsidy was a tax.

Despite the obvious symptoms, Ed Miliband refuses to see a Doctor. 

The Second, and in my view the least likely idea, is that children are being wrongly used as a way to pull upon the emotional heart strings. Ed realises the children can't borrow money, but adults can. As many of the Loony Left have cried out for recently he wants to, in some way, ban adults from getting credit from 'evil' Wonga. As one of my Leftie friends pointed out to me adults often watch children's TV with their kids and thus the ban is not to protect children but to stop adults getting loans.

I do not buy into the idea of stopping adults from seeing advertising campaigns. As a nation we have decided that once someone turns 18 they have the freedom to make their own decisions, and sure this means facing consequences, but most importantly it means people can go out and better themselves. It's an adults choice to take out loans if they want to and they know all the risks but also the benefits. We should stop patronising adults as if they are children unable to make reasoned decisions because once we start doing that we start going around restricting people in other more meaningful ways. We could ban alcohol advertising because adults are in no way able to make good decisions on them. We could ban junk food advertising because it makes you fat.

Lefties (altogether): Ban Everything!!!

People have the right to make choices and we should not pester and annoy people by restricting their choices in an attempt to be paternalistic. People know the facts about pay day lenders. Its not like nobody knows that Wonga charges massive rates off interest, especially after all the Leftie's have been banging on about it.

Can you predict the future? Sadly I can't and I know one other person who can't too. It's Ed Miliband. Whilst the country is on the up he predicted it would crash through the floor. Well sorry Ed, you are wrong.

Weekly Poll Lowdown

Now that socialism is alive and well in the Labour Party I asked you what you thought about it. 54% of you have decried Socialism whilst 40% of you have backed the Labour Party in their unaccounted and unusable  policies. This either means that a lot of you are having a joke or are big Labour supporters who, in the largest display ever of stupidity over sense, back a Labour government in 2015. If you're the later I hope my blog highly annoys you.

How on Earth can the electorate back a socialist government? Admittedly some people have probably forgotten what Britain was like in the 1960s and 1970s, but history, when it is so clear that socialism is a death sentence for the country, is not the way to go around winning elections. The electorate will not want a return to a darker Britain where rubbish piled up in the streets, manufacturing declined, unemployment grew, the state controlled your lives and you paid the state twice when drinking in a state run pub. 

Vote Labour for Socialist failure.

Red Ed's policies have become greater than laughable. An apprenticeship programme illegal under European Law. Nationalisation of privately held land when the state deems it fit to take. Fixing prices on energy so that everyone pays more because nobody on the Labour front bench wanted to use any logic. Oh yes and, the icing on the cake, none of the new ideas for 'government'* are costed at all. So spending is going up, up, up and so is the debt and deficit. The UK's economic situation would be getting worse under Labour. 

But why has Labour done this? We know these are not vote winning ideas. Its because they're so much controlled by the trade unions, Especially Ed Miliband, that all the policies are written by them. A Labour government is really a Unite government. Which is good if you're a civil servant paid at £50,000 who is usually idle or trying to destroy all government policy; not so good if you're a hard working person. Ed Miliband is too weak to do the right thing for people.

Indeed it is only the Conservative who are for the population of the UK. If you're a hard working person who wants to improve their lives make sure you vote Conservative.

Vote Conservative.

*It's very hard to call it government rather than a massive mess.

Back and Then Gone

I'm back after a break of a few days. Why, you may ask, were there no postings? Well it's because, between watching several episodes of Monty Python's Flying Circus, I was unable to write from the shock of the Labour Party Conference.

You may remember that I wrote about how Red Ed is "bringing back socialism", well he really is. Labour are proposing price controls on Energy Companies, the Nationalisation of land not built upon by developers and the Royal Mail, raids on pensions through the pretence on a tax on bankers and the return to high taxes for all when we all know that the lower the taxes are the more money the government gets.

And why are they doing this? It's all because of Union control. Ed Miliband who was elected by them is now promising a return to an age where unaccountable Trade Unions were powerful over the people. Where unions could stop a country economically, nurses refused to treat people and corpses were unburied. The good old age of Socialist Britain, hey. I bet Len McLuskey is pleased though.

At least we can start filling in this empty book.

This is a stupid move for Ed Miliband because people don't want socialism. It's becoming clearer by the day as policy announcements unwind that this is a failed plan and many in Labour recognise this. Chuka Umunna, Ed Balls and Yvette Cooper are opposed to Ed's energy plans and so are Peter Mandleson and Tony Blair, who knows how Labour can win elections. Ed Miliband is going out of his way so much to make a 2015 Conservative Majority more likely. 

So what now for me? Well I'm off to conference to see Dave and chums tell us all what they have planned for a Conservative victory. I'm much looking forward to seeing friends and mocking Nadim Muslim, interim chair at Nottingham Trent, for his excellent photo on his pass. I want to do a few posts during conference but this may not happen because I want to be doing as much as possible. So see you in Manchester.

Bring Back Socialism

Ed Miliband told the general public today that he was 'bringing back Socialism' to Britain. Socialism of course is that great political economic philosophy which brought about such successes as stagflation, the Winter of Discontent, decline in manufacturing and the 1983 Labour Party Manifesto (known as the longest suicide note on history). Tony Blair made Labour electable in the 1990s by getting rid of clause four making clear that Labour would not bring back Socialism to Britain. Will Red Ed reverse it? his latest announcement is a result of trade unions tugging at his leash for sure.

Len McCluskey is up to his old tricks in Labour again.
