Cllr Fletcher has been making his electors, members of CF and his UKIP collogues laugh again by proclaiming "I am not a politician" on a status about attending the YI conference.
I'm sure the councillor for Bracken Bank and Ingrow ward would like to take a look at the dictionary and see that he is a politician. He is someone "who is professionally involved in politics, especially as a holder of an elected office."
Just remember this next time Cllr Fletcher when you want to go on about your love life.

ReplyDeleteI voted for this man to represent me, as a Politician Like. And now he claims not to be one? I feel like my human rights have been removed, I no longer have faith in Politics, the concept of local Government or that I will get a surprise in my next Kinder Egg. I'm going to take him to the Hague for war crimes. He destroyed my life and our whole community. He is going to turn into Gaddafi next and not be a politician but the spiritual leader of our community, he will do all kinds of potentially terrible things and I'm very concerned.

ReplyDeleteOh for goodness sake. The author of this blog needs to get a life, and maybe actually educate himself about what being a Town or Parish Councillor actually entails before he writes his ignorant guff.
ReplyDeleteA Town or Parish Council is non party-political and does not transact its business in a political way, like a District, Borough or County Council does, where each political party has a group leader and whipped votes and a manifesto for what it will do if it has overall control of the Council.
One is, however, allowed to stand for election to a Town or Parish Council with a political description or on a party ticket, as I did. In fact, UKIP party rules state that all party members standing in any public election must stand as a UKIP candidate, so therefore I had to.
I am personally democratically elected, yes, although co-options are allowed for Town and Parish Councils. If a Councillor resigns mid-term, the vacancy will be filled by a co-option unless a petition of ten or more residents of the ward concerned requesting an election is presented. In my case, this happened, an a public election was held.
So I reiterate. No, all things considered, I am not a "politician".

He stood for an elected position under the banner of a political party, and was elected based on that to serve the public in a political position. That makes him a politician whether he likes it or not. Not a very good politician, perhaps. But a politician nonetheless. What a muppet he is.
