#NTUPP (Pint and Policy)

Yesterday I went to NTU's Pint and Policy, the copy cat version of NUCA's own Port and Policy. I really enjoyed myself. My thanks go to the Orange Tree and the Conservative Team from Nottingham Trent. Well done for the debating as well, it got really good. Here's the record of the night from Twitter (Trent need to get more tweeters).

NUCA certainly livened up the debate last night with not just table banging but shouting, chanting and really going for the jugular with the Labour Party.

We of course, despite this, we were full of courtesy to the opposition, despite them being wrong.

We had a great debate on Thatcher to kick off. There were some excellent reasons for why Thatcher put the Great back into Britain. My thanks goes to new East Midlands Chairman Richard Harris for appreciating my points.

But the most interesting thing in the debate is that no one could say that Thatcher was bad, even Labour. They're a weak lot in the Labour Party, you know. Weak, Feeble!

 Thatcher quotes came thick and fast on the night.

We had a good NUCA turnout, but one of our redder members was missing from the debate.

Of course none of the debates really mattered. What did was the Pints. After some lovely cider I had a Bloody Mary, which was fairly good as a drink. Jenny summed up the aftermath of this significant drinking well.

The Peasant's Revolt

Have you been wondering where I have been? No. Of course you haven't this blog is probably just 30 seconds of your life every few days. So what have I been doing, well I've written an essay on the Peasant's Revolt. Interesting stuff, the first Communist Revolution (luckily suppressed). There is a good video on this by Python, Terry Jones. It's a good watch.

Problems

We are having technical difficulties. The polls on the blog are not working properly and I'm going to try fix them with a new gadget. In the mean time I'm going to have to suspend the weekly polls. What seems to be happening is that votes are not being registered. I have suspected this from the last poll (see http://thingselliottsays.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/weekly-poll-lowdown_20.html) where there was a 3 vote turnout. I tested this by casting a vote myself and that with all the other votes on the poll have disappeared.

I'll try to fix this ASAP.

Weekly Poll Lowdown

Well I'm very disappointed. Only 3 votes in a Thatcher Poll and this is supposed to be a Tory Blog. There was no winner either, a three way split. Or as the Liberal Democrats would call it, everyone is a winner.

So what is the one I like the most. It has to be 'No, No, No!' as this is the start of identifying the problem of the EU. The Bruges Speech may have been technically the start but I actually agree with Ken Clarke when he says 'the Bruges Speech would not sound Euro-sceptic today'. What No, No, No has is the passion in which the EU needs to be fought against, it is a wonderful bit of rhetoric. I like the a 9 min addition of the speech on YouTube because it really exposes the Labour stance on the EU too, they are quite prepared to give away everything we have so long as they are down with Barroso and all the other cronies. Not a place I would, nor the British people, like to be. So here it is get the popcorn out.

What Has The Government Done For Me?

So you may ask. What has this government done for you? Here are some answers.

The Fight Against The Real Conservativism

Isn't ironic that the most conservative of all ideologies is socialism.

Conservativism (as a small c ideology) is essentially the slow procession of change from one thing to another in attempt to preserve what is good about the present and past. Socialism is about preserving life of the working class in a way where there is no change. Essentially a system where there can be no advancement and where the class system is rigid, with the working class at the bottom and the elite old boys at the top. There is no movement there can be no prosperity. No wonder the rich and the so called 'illiberal' elite favour such a system, there is no chance of them being budged from their positions. Being conservative, as in the adjective this time, by not wanting any change is exactly what socialism represents.

'Conservatives of the World, unite'

We in the Conservative party, even the ones who would not even think this applies to them, are class warriors wanting to bring about freedom and change for the better of all people. The only disagreement in the party is the rate this takes place. But I think we're getting closer to some broad area where this should lie on that.

Conservatives of the world, unite against the socialist oppressors and fight for freedom against the Labour Party.

Possibly the Worst MP in Parliament

I don't usually do this but today I'm going to give a biography on a certain lady called Sarah Teather, a Lib Dem MP. If you live in Brent Central I'm so sorry that you are arguably represented by probably the worst person in parliament. There are four good reasons why this is so.

Sarah Teather is possibly the worst MP in Parliament

Sarah Teather was sacked from her job as an education minister in the 2012 reshuffle. Why may you ask? Well its mostly because she refused 5 times to vote for the Government's welfare and education policies. It is beyond belief that she was allowed to do this even once, a Tory minister would have been sacked. Clearly she is not very loyal to her party or the Government. In my opinion you should be loyal to at least one of these if you want to remain a member of the coalition government.

Second, she is corrupt. She made sure that two schools in her constituency received special treatment when their planned extensions were to be stopped because of the closure of the building schools for the future scheme. She managed to make sure that these schools had money given to them still, something that goes against the idea of governing for the whole country that a minsters job entails.

Sarah is also a hypocrite. Remember the coalition proposals of equal marriage, on the 25th January Sarah said she was 'taking PRIDE in delivering equal marriage'. On the 5th February she voted against it. A complete change from a lady who doesn't do what she says. Oh yeah and like most Lib Dems she pledged to vote for no tuition fee rises but did so. What a terrific MP she is.

Lastly, but most important in my mind, she is stupid. Yesterday she was on Question Time and she implied North Korea would decommission its nukes. Furthering that point she said "I fear it will end up in an arms race." Well my dear Sarah we've been in a nuclear arms race for over 60 years now, have you not noticed yet. This was shown in her time in government as well, whether you agree or not with the policy, she could not tell anyone why EMA should be scrapped. Instead she virtually said it shouldn't be, despite it being her job to implement the EMA reforms. Does that make sense? It did to Sarah Teather.

So Sarah please resign and give the people of Brent Central the relief of having another MP serve them. Even Lib Dem members grown at the sight of you in the media. Maybe you should get a new career in comedy.
