Walsall Action Day - Saturday 19th July

An important local council by-election has occurred in Walsall North, a key 40:40 seat that the Conservatives must win. The Tories have not won in Walsall since 1979 but only lost by 476 votes in 2010 and even got a 5.5% swing from Labour in the May local elections.

Douglas Hansen-Luke, the PPC for Walsall North, will be joining campaigners on the day. He will also be accompanied by local Tamworth MP, Christopher Pincher, and Nadhim Zahwai MP, from Stratford-upon-Avon. There will be a free lunch and help with transport costs if you contact the Walsall Conservatives.

The meet up point is the George Stephenson Pub (WS2 7EU) and canvassing will take place from 1pm till late.

#ThingsElliottSays tip for the day is to sign up to receive an eventbrite ticket here. For further details visit the Facebook event here.

Happy campaigning.

New: #ThingsElliottSays' Wednesday Campaigning Round-Up

And now for something completely different, a new idea launched by #ThingsElliottSays. One of the problems with CF and campaigning is that no one is particularly well updated about what's going on across the country. Obviously this is not particularly anyone's fault and Labour must be plagued with exactly the same issue. What is really needed is some sort of centralised place where CFers can look at all the major campaign days going on across the country and get stuck in to win the Conservatives a majority in 2015.

Thus #ThingsElliottSays is going to fill this gap in the market. Every Wednesday evening I will put up a post informing Conservatives across the country about up and coming campaign days. If you want your campaign day to feature on the next Wednesday Campaign Round-Up on #ThingsElliottSays you can email me at: elliottarjohnson@hotmail.com .

Ilkley Super Saturday - 12th July

Join Yorkshire CF campaigning in the wonderful town of Ilkley. The meet up point is Ilkley train station (LS29 8HF) at 10am, there are regular trains from Leeds.

Campaigners will be joined by Kris Hopkins, MP for Keighley. Lunch will also be free, paid for by Kris. Ilkley is a key part of Kris' seat which he won from Labour in 2010 with a 2,940 majority. Labour have been targeting this seat and it is thus worth your time trying to keep Ilkley blue.

Road Trip to Portsmouth South - 12th July

Would you like to join the hundreds of activists already signed up to help in the 40:40 of Portsmouth South? There is free curry, some free drinks, partying afterwards, a nice hotel to sleep in and working off a hangover with friends in the morning. This is set to be another cracking day organised by Mark Clarke and his RoadTrip2015 Team.

Portsmouth South is a key marginal seat currently held by the infamous ex-Lib Dem MP Mike Hancock. There have already been calls for a by-election in this seat by residents.

Oh yes and did I mention Michael Gove is going too.

The start time and meet up place are on the eventbrite tickets which can be bought here.

Further details are on Facebook.
